California/AACMA

Legislation

The California Acupuncture Coalition (CAC), composed of four leading associations—AACMA, AKAMAC, UAA and AMUAA - continues to advance and protect the acupuncture profession in California:

Two Bills are currently sponsored by CAC in 2026:

  • SB 944 will be eliminating the requirement of federal fund matching for Medi-Cal to cover acupuncture services.
  • AB 1949 will take “two visits per month” limit off while keeping twenty-four visits per calendar year cap. So, the Medi-Cal beneficiaries can get services as their condition needed.

Upcoming Events:

  • Chinese Medicine Day Celebration & Seminars – March 15, 2026

Legislation & Advocacy

The California Acupuncture Coalition (CAC)—composed of four leading professional associations: AACMA, AKAMAC, UAA, and AMUAA—continues to advance and protect the acupuncture profession in California.

Sponsored Legislation for 2026

CAC is currently sponsoring two important bills:

  • SB 944 – Eliminates the requirement for federal matching funds in order for Medi-Cal to cover acupuncture services, ensuring continued access to care regardless of federal funding fluctuations.
  • AB 1949 – Removes the current “two visits per month” limit while maintaining the annual cap of 24 visits per calendar year. This change allows Medi-Cal beneficiaries to receive acupuncture treatment according to their medical needs.
